Intro to Public Relations for Business and Non-profits

Public relations is the art of reaching masses of people through two-way communications and is often more effective than advertising or marketing. Today you will see PR in reels on social media, interviews with traditional media, and guest appearances on podcasts. It is also how public policy is explained, emergencies are navigated, and stories are told. While it’s often described as “free media,” it comes from strategy, creativity and relationships. This session will introduce you to strategies and tactics used in mass communications and help businesses identify opportunities that may exist to help them launch or promote a service, product, or business using public relations.
